A New Line to Protect Your Littles From the Sun (Plus Giveaway!)

Summertime brings to mind water and sun, and here in the Midwest, it’s prime time to soak up as much of the fun in the sun as we possibly can — safely! We talk a lot about protecting ourselves and our littles from the sun around here, but I’ll admit, I was not so strict about my sun protection until I had children. Now, protecting their gentle skin is a top priority, so I’m always on the lookout for the best ways to keep their skin safe. And a recent playdate with a friend brought me to meet the owner of my new favorite sun protection brand: the family swimwear line SwimZip.

I’d initially seen the company on Shark Tank and then saw my girlfriend wearing the top that I’d been ooohhhing over. Of course, I ordered it. And when that friend introduced me to her pal at the playdate, I put the name together — and legitimately geeked out at the fact that I was meeting the woman behind the brand. Our mutual love for the Fit Bottomed World brought us together, and now I’m thrilled to have the chance to tell all the mamas out there about my love of SwimZip.

SwimZip Review

Coverage: I’m very pleased with the coverage of the Rash Guard Long Sleeve Zipper Swimsuit, although, I want to stress that sunscreen is still important for any areas that could be exposed. And I’m quite picky when it comes to coverage — my son has Leucoderma, a white patch without pigmentation, on his back, and it’s extremely important to keep it protected from the sun. The clothing itself is UV 50+, so if you or your child has it on, the covered areas are good to go.

Comfort and fit: I’ll give this a 10/10 all around. The Sophisticated Swim Cover Up for women is chic, comfortable and good for being in and out of the pool. I love the way it sits on my body and also how I can wear it into the pool. It fits true to size and even gives a little lift in all the right places. Nursing mama? No problem! The top of this cover-up separates — giving you peace of mind when you’re at the pool. You can latch your baby on without taking apart your swim attire. I wore this as a full-on swimsuit, and also as a cover-up with a full one-piece under for when we went out to lunch with friends. I love how versatile it is! As did my kids. For them, pieces run true to size, however, I sized up for both so it wasn’t too tight when it became wet.

Style: Nailed it! I am so thrilled with the fashion-forward look for moms and the casual, darling look for kids. Pineapples? So in! I love how that was incorporated for the toddler line this summer. And, the Baby Boy line was the right balance of color. I also love the solid with stripe options — this let me mix and match bottoms for a fun look.
