Balance Is B.S. But Spin at City Gym Rocks

Remember that time we attended Indulge KC? There, I met fitness guru and gym owner, Hailee Walsh. I’ve been following her since then. She said something that stuck with me and I was forever hooked: “Balance is Bullshit.” For a busy mom trying to balance it all, I recognized she’s right.

Hailee invited Fit Bottomed Girl Jenn and me to her Spin class at City Gym. The gym is located in a cool area known as Waldo in Kansas City. This area is hopping with locally owned businesses, giving a true community feel. City Gym is an all-encompassing and welcoming environment. Inside the doors of City Gym, energy surrounds all areas. The gym offers classes, one-on-one training, individual workout space and a kick-ass Spin studio.

Above our heads is a neon red-lighted ceiling decorated with old-school bike wheels. The room has a big-screen projector and the bikes hold you accountable.

We rode to the beat of the music, playing along with our resistance to increase the intensity. Our bikes recorded our every move and Hailee checked in to give us some accountability. She pumped energy on the bike and off. She walked around to keep our mind connected to our body and reminded us that we were in charge of being there. Every moment, Hailee’s voice was beside us.

She is strong, she is confident, and she is determined.

I am grateful that our paths crossed, and humbled that Hailee truly cares for me. Like all those she encounters, her heart is open. She was intrigued by everyone’s story — where we come from and what brought us together.
