These Boots Were Made for (Winter) Walking

You guys know how the song goes.

And that’s exactly what we’re going to do. Because one of these days these boots are going to walk all over you, winter.

(Especially since walking is so great, right? The cold temps shouldn’t keep us inside — nope, nope!)

Merrell Chateau Tall Pull Waterproof Boots ($210)

I love these so much that we actually put them in our recent Fit Bottomed Girls gift guide (also, we’re a Merrell affiliate because we love the brand so much)— because they’re seriously so great whether you’re out walking, shopping or just out for coffee with a friend. With wet-weather protection and traction, you’ll always feel sure-footed in the trickiest of winter conditions and you’ll always stay warm and dry because these also keep out water. They look awesome with jeans or leggings or a skirt and fit your foot naturally — with a heel that gives you some lift but not so much that you feel you’re in like, heels. And our fave part? They have plenty of room in the calf area — yay for muscles having room to move! —Jenn

Cougar Gabby Suede Shearling Boot

warm boots

Looking for a super warm, waterproof boot that looks a little less … intense? You’re gonna love the Cougar Gabby Suede Shearling — I sure do. They’re temperature-rated for -11°F with an anti-slip rubber outsole, so you’re good to go in major winter weather, but unless you fold the collar down (which you totally can), the plush lining is hidden, so they more or less look like casual boots. Cute casual boots. I’ve paired them with both jeans and a dress (you know, on the two cold days we’ve had so far this year in Florida) and gotten compliments both times. And I cannot even express how thrilled I am to have the perfect footwear for my next trip to a snow-covered location. I was sent a pair in black, but they’re also available in hazel. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that, honestly, Cougar’s whole line looks pretty fantastic. Almost fantastic enough to make me wish I had a reason to buy more boots! (Then again, it’s not like they’re all winter, so maybe I can talk myself into another bootie or two …) —Kristen

Have a fave spot you like to go winter walking in? It’s always fun to walk around the neighborhood or local park — especially when it snows! (Says, Jenn, because Kristen and snow? Ha, not in Florida!) —Jenn & Kristen
