Affordable Athleisure Shopping Tips from Sharron Clear

Athleisure is hot right now and, honestly, it’s not just gymwear anymore. Everywhere you look, you see so many people sporting this look. However, athleisure wear can be rather expensive. So if you are trying to stretch your dollars, here are a few tips!

1. Shop Second-Hand and Pre-Loved

When it comes to shopping for affordable athleisure wear, don’t sleep on second-hand stores or buying used. Many people think secondhand means low quality, which is far from the truth! You can find so many amazing pieces in second-hand stores, at yard/estate sales, or resale apps like Poshmark. Many of them have been worn once or are brand new with tags still attached. Donation boxes and centers are located all around, so there is no shortage of people donating used or new items.

It may take some digging in these places but it’s worth it. Remember to pack some patience and you won’t be disappointed. You could be helping a worthy cause or charity by doing so, too!

2. Shop In-Store at Low-Cost Retailers

There are so many great low-cost retailers that have awesome name brands and off-brand athleisure pieces. Retailers like Ross Dress for Less, Marshalls, TJMaxx and Burlington Coat Factory have affordable athleisure gear. You can find many pieces still sold at major retail stores but discounted at a great deal in these retailers.

Another pro tip? Don’t leave the store without checking the sale rack! You can find items that are discounted even more during certain times.

3. Shop Online

Online offers endless options for shopping and searching for affordable athleisure wear. Most retailers have online stores, so with just a click or two you can find affordable athleisure pieces. And, once you know your size in certain brands, you don’t have to worry about issues with the fit, which makes for a better shopping experience.

Additionally, Amazon has just about everything, so you can shop for your entire athleisure wardrobe. They cover higher-end and super affordable no-name gear. Plus, reading the brutally honest customer reviews are as close as you can get to actually trying on the clothes in-store while being in the comfort of your own home.

Additional Tips

Save by choosing items that do double-duty! Look for soft, simple, comfortable, versatile athleisure pieces. Quick-drying material and pieces with the ability to transition easily from the gym to everyday life or vice versa make for great closet staples.

Wherever and however you choose to shop, these tips will help you find some great deals. Happy shopping! —Sharron Clear
