What We’re Running in This Summer

You know we’re Brooks Running brand ambassadors, right? We love Brooks, love what they’re about, love checking out what’s new. But we’re also really honest on our reviews and only ever share our real, true opinions … as you’re about to see here!

What’s your go-to when it comes to running apparel? I’ve been a capris or spandex shorts girl for years and years, not because I was modest about showing my legs (definitely not the case) but because I always ran into issues with chafing and fit with running shorts. So now, while I love a good pair of workout capris, I also do a lot of running in shorts — namely, the Chaser Shorts from Brooks Running. I have them in both the 3″ and 5″, and I wear them all. the. time.

So, when I had a chance to try out their Go-To 5″ Running Shorts, I had high hopes. After all, in addition to loving the Chaser Shorts, I’ve also had great luck with their Go-To Shoe (the Adrenaline), and their Go-To Running Capris are in heavy rotation around here.

The shorts, though? Well, not every product can be a big winner, and I’m sad to say that these were definitely not winners for me. Maybe I would’ve liked them better in a shorter length, since I dig the kind of retro style with the stripes down the side, but the inseam seemed really long and drawstring waistband just wasn’t my jam. Win some, lose some. And happily, there were other winners for me this month!

The Racerback Streaker Tank is quickly becoming one of my favorite workout tops. The ombre color scheme is seriously eye-catching, and the fit really works for me (although I’d definitely recommend sizing down if you’re between sizes — I sometimes order a large, but the medium in this gives me plenty of room). It’s lightweight enough that I plan to use it for some of my longer, sweatier runs this summer — and there’s not much higher praise I can offer.

Another big win is the brand new Glycerin 15. This neutral shoe has been updated with a new plush transition zone, and it features the Brooks Super DNA midsole for super adaptable cushioning. Noticing a focus on cushion? Yep, so did I. I’ve only gotten a few miles in on these, but they’ve felt good — really good. (And, spoiler: You can come back next week for your chance to win a pair!)

So, to bring it back around — what’s your favorite style to run in? Shorts? Capris? Like a tight fit, or something looser? —Kristen
