Fit Blogger We Love: Cassey Ho of Blogilates

Cassey's workouts make us (and her) jump, jump!

Cassey’s workouts make us (and her) jump, jump!

I had the privilege of meeting Cassey Ho of Blogilates at a Jamba Juice event last year in Chicago (in fact, she was my circus-workout partner!), and she was just so darn sweet. I’d done some of her YouTube workouts before and knew she could get you sweating up a storm, but she was truly as energetic and down-to-earth in person as she seems in her videos. So when we started this whole Fit Blogger We Love series, I knew we’d have to talk to Cassey!

In addition to Blogilates, Cassey is a certified Pilates and group fitness instructor, creator of POP Pilates and the owner and designer of oGorgeous, a line of yoga and gym bags (that we love!), which she started in college when she couldn’t find a bag that was as fashionable as it was functional. Read on as we chat Cassey up about blogging, workouts and her fitness confessions!

Fit Blogger We Love: Cassey Ho of Blogilates

When and why did you start your blog? I started my blog in Boston in 2010. I had just posted some vids on YouTube and then fans were asking what I ate and what I do on a normal basis, so I started to write about it.

How did you come up with the name of your blog? It was actually pretty effortless! I was writing a blog on Pilates…so BLOGILATES!

What’s the most rewarding thing about blogging? Getting feedback and comments from readers! It’s always an ongoing conversation, and I love reading other people’s opinions and perspectives.

What’s the most misunderstood thing about your blog or healthy blogging in general? Some people get the impression that I am obsessed with being healthy and then start associating that with body-image issues, etc. Nope, nope. I love the taste of real, whole, unprocessed food and how it makes me feel. I love working out because I am flooded with energy afterwards. I don’t do it to look a certain way or to preach a certain lifestyle…I just share what I do and what makes me feel good!

What’s your favorite post and why? The “feeling” posts. Here’s one called Feeling Fat and Failing.

What workouts do you love? POP Pilates! Weight-lifting. Cardio dance. I wouldn’t say I LOVE HIITs…but they are effective.

What workouts do you love to hate? Oh, there we go. HIITs. Especially…BURPEES.

What single piece of workout apparel could you not live without? OMG, my bright Nike shoes! Nike Free Runs all the way!

What’s the most embarrassing song on your workout playlist right now? Umm…I think a lot of it may be embarrassing for someone my age. Hahahaha. How about everything One Direction?

What are a few of your fitness confessions? 1) If I eat something “bad,” I try to drink a ton of water. 2) When I feel unmotivated to work out, I say outloud, “Cassey, get over yourself. C’mon, let’s go.” 3) I really like that kinda excruciating/hurting feeling I get when I stretch a sore spot.

Thanks for the Q&A, Cassey! Do you guys feel the same way about HIIT and burpees? —Jenn

I love how honest she as in her feelings post! Speak your truth woman!

  3. YES! I know how I feel after eating fast food versus something healthy I can make at home. I like her viewpoint!
