Interview With Olympian Jamie Anderson

What are you looking most forward to about the Olympics? Really looking forward to being in a new place; I’ve never been to Sochi or seen the Black Sea. I’m really looking forward to Opening Ceremonies, together with my country, supporting a world-class event.

Do you have any pre-snowboarding or competition rituals? I love to take time before events to clear my head. I do a little meditation and always have crystals on me. I crochet crystals into my beanie or wear a necklace to have balance and energy with me.

What’s your workout routine like when training? What about when you’re in the off-season? My training program includes working out with a personal trainer, yoga, mountain biking, hiking, running a little bit. In spring, I’m tired, so I’m doing yoga and walking, more in nature. In fall, I have more energy, and I’m really excited about the season, so I’m working hard with my training and doing more active activity.

Any workout moves you love? Love to hate? The exercise I love to hate is this twist on the slam ball. Do a slam ball for 30 seconds and then do 20 push-ups in between. I couldn’t move my arms after, but I got a really good workout in a short amount of time.

What’s it mean to you to be a part of the P&G family of athletes? It is so special to be included. I’m so grateful for the Thank You, Mom campaign to acknowledge our mothers to thank them for their time to helping me get where I am today.

What role has your mom played in your success as an Olympian? My mom has helped me so much through goals and challenges, from overcoming injuries to having the strength and courage to follow my dreams and trust everything will come out how it’s meant to be. She’s my no. 1 inspiration.

What are a few of your best tips for taking care of your skin during the winter? A good moisturizer is really important. Olay Fresh Effects has a new moisturizer coming out this winter that I got to try. It’s the Hydrating Gel Moisturizer that cools your skin to wake it up and contains white tea and honeysuckle for extra hydration and antioxidant benefits. I also think it’s really important to remove all of my make-up at the end of the day. I really like the Fresh Effects Make-up Removal Cloths, because they are so easy to use. And my last tip is drink lots of water. Winter in general can be really dehydrating, especially for me on the mountain, so I drink lots and lots of water.

We love how hippity-dippity Jamie is! Who else will be cheering her on in Sochi?! —Jenn
