These are green beans like your grandma used to make, just a little kicked up.
Ingredients
3 thick pieces of bacon
2 pounds of fresh haricot verts, ends trimmed and cut in half
2 cups gluten-free chicken broth
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons of butter or ghee
Instructions
Cook bacon until crispy in a large pan. Remove bacon and dice. Set aside.
Place leftover bacon fat* in slow cooker and add all ingredients except butter/ghee in your slow.
Set slow cooker to high and cook for 5 hours.
Add in diced bacon and butter/ghee. Cook on low for 1 hour.
Serve warm or store until your ready to eat it!
Notes
*This is super easy to do in just one pot if you have a slow cooker that has a removable insert that can cook directly on the stove. I have one like this and it's SO easy.
