What Real Women Look Like

real-women-585With so many images of what’s desirable and attractive flying at us on TV, in magazines and online, sometimes it’s hard to step back and feel good about your imperfect, real self. But, if you’ve been a reader of FBG for any time at all, you know that we’re fightin’ that stereotype with a vengeance stronger than Vanilla Ice’s. We believe that Fit Bottomed Girls come in all shapes and sizes and should be celebrated for being healthy, not a certain pant size. And that’s why when we stumbled across the website My Body Gallery, we were thrilled.

The site features photos of real women with their height, weight, body shape and clothes size so that women can see what real women—not models— look like.  Many of us have spent so many years looking at ourselves in mirrors that we can no longer see what’s really there. The My Body Gallery project’s goal is to help women objectively see what we look like and see that we are all beautiful.

We are beautiful, no matter what they say.

I’m 6′ 0″ tall and it’s hard for me to figure out what is really a healthy goal weight/size for me. I think the best thing about this site is that it allows you search by height and get a quick feel for what different weights ACTUALLY look like for your height. My someday goal is now a size 14, but I would love to be a 12.

  3. Ohh interesting. Thanks for the link! We all need to be motivated by real things 🙂

This website is AMAZING! Thanks for sharing. I will definitely be sharing this website with friends!

  5. Aside from the fact that magazines airbrush the imperfections away, even supermodels don’t really have perfect bodies either. No one can be that skinny and still have breasts! I think I would rather be a little soft around the edges than bony like them.

I guess with the constent “OBESE” coming up with every entry of my weight and height… it is indeed dificult to feel “real”
