It’s amazing to think that there were times (probably) when time just seemed to drift past. Those long, lazy afternoons, those relaxed morning lie-ins, and even late nights enjoying the company of your friends or partner. If you’re now a mom, chances are those days are long, long gone. Time seems to be one of the most valuable commodities in the modern world, and even more so if you’ve got a child or a few of them. Here are a few ideas to keep you from feeling swamped by the gigantic list of to-dos.

3 Time-Management Strategies

1. Prioritize. This is the most obvious and probably the most important of all the tips: make sure you have your jobs sorted according to importance. This can be trickier than it sounds. If you don’t pay your mortgage or rent, you could be thrown out on the street, but on the other hand, the washing and washing up still need doing. Once you’ve done your highest priority tasks, you can settle down to play a game of Foxy Bingo or watch your favorite DVD box-set.

2. Time-saving devices. There are many devices and gadgets out there that can help you make the most of your time. Internet banking, for instance, can reduce the amount of time spent on paying bills and trips to the bank. Of course, many gadgets that are meant to save us time actually end up wasting it—it might be a good idea to ditch them. One of the lowest tech and easiest tricks for saving time is cooking meals and freezing them for use later.

3. Breaks. Although this can be nearly impossible, depending on how old your children are or if they are babies, but even a short break can make all the ceaseless toil seem all the more manageable. If you have any friends or family nearby who can help take the kids off your hands, you’ll find they are worth their weight in gold, or their weight in gold pacifiers.
