Beecology: Bee-lieve Me, It’s Good Stuff!

beecology Like any mom short on pampering time, I relish the times when I do get to treat myself and get a little me time. And I love to try out new products that help me get my relax on.

Enter Beecology’s products. A family with 16 hives, excess beeswax and a dream, the company started making products when their kids were young because they couldn’t find “healthy” products. They now make a full line of natural products—lip balm, soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion. The ecologically friendly products use completely natural and renewable ingredients, plus the company donates 10 percent of its net profits to its consumer’s charity of choice.

I tried out the Grapefruit & Lemongrass Body Wash ($8.99) and the Original Honey Hand & Body Cream ($12.99). I loved the body wash. From its fresh scent, to the clean rinse to the super-convenient pump dispenser (and frankly, more shower soap should be dispensed in this manner!) to the fact that you have to shake it before use—like food—it was a hit with me. The unscented lotion was thick and creamy and absorbed quickly, never leaving that icky sticky feeling behind. I don’t particularly like unscented items just because I think they always have a scent, but for those with sensitive skin or noses who want a fragrance-free lotioning experience, this is a good one to try!

Did you start paying attention to the ingredients on your toiletries when you had kids? Would you rather go the all-natural route? —Erin
