Special K: Not Just Cereal Anymore

special k granola bars I’m always keeping my eyes peeled for yummy healthy snacks. If they’re snacks I can shove in my purse or the diaper bag? Even better. Because there is nothing worse than being out and about with the kiddos when severe hunger strikes. Your own crankiness plus crying kiddos? No thanks! So when Special K sent its granola bars for me to chew on, I was all about testing them out.

First of all, the flavors alone had me loving them before I even got my mouth on them. Dark Chocolate and Chocolatey Peanut Butter? Um, twist my arm. So how did the actual taste compare to my expectations? They fared really well! They’re sweet (with 7 grams of sugar), but I didn’t find them to be too sweet. (But I’m a sweets kind of gal.) And I love that they let me get my chocolate fix with 4 grams of fiber and 4 grams of protein in just 110 calories. I found myself wanting a touch more PB in the Chocolatey Peanut Butter version, but I can’t really complain. They’re moist and chewy, too, and I do love the chips of peanut butter and chocolate.

These types of granola bars won’t fuel you for a marathon or anything, but to stave off a trip through the drive-thru or prevent Hungry At The Grocery Store Buy Everything In Sight Syndrome?Yep, they’ll totally do the trick.

What’s your favorite way to get a chocolate fix besides the real thing? —Erin
