What’s the most misunderstood thing about your sport? People think that MTB racing is too dangerous. In fact MTB racing is a bit safer than road cycling where someone else may crash you at any given point and at high speed. MTB crashes can also be tough but usually self-caused, and the landing is bit softer.
What’s your training like? I train all the week with one day off the bike. On Monday, I usually don’t ride and go to yoga class with girlfriends followed by coffee. Otherwise, I ride my bike a lot, I run and hike. In the winter months, I back-country ski and nordic ski. I do strength and core workouts, but I never go to gym.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? Focus on present, learn from the past, enjoy the future.
What’s the best piece of advice you can give to someone else? Be active. Exercise makes everything better. Some of my best ideas came while outside on a trail enjoying myself.
What does going to the Olympics mean to you? Good challenge.
