Put It On Your Pre-Baby Wish List: This Babymoon in Santa Fe

Babymoon-SantaFe-585My husband and I didn’t take a babymoon. Not unless you count visiting family in Kansas for my baby shower as “babymoon” material. But I totally get the reasoning. It gives your pregnant self one last baby-free vacation, one last time to sit on a beach and relax without having to worry about a child who will just put sand in his or her mouth. It gives you the opportunity to kick up your feet, sip virgin daiquiris, sleep in super late and put off thinking about those sleepless nights that are right around the corner.

But if this had landed in my inbox when I was pregnant for the first time? I would have been begging my husband to head out to New Mexico for this retreat. The Four Seasons Rancho Encantado Santa Fe offers an “Enchanted Expectations” package for expecting couples. Not only do you get to spend time in glorious Santa Fe (Ever been? It’s beautiful), but you get to be pampered like the fabulous mama-to-be that you are. Here’s a snippet of what you can expect:

  • One session of prenatal yoga
  • One prenatal massage for the mother-to-be
  • Daily chef’s craving menu
  • Baby blanket takeaway gift
  • Maternity pillow available upon request
  • Complimentary nature walks around the property

It just sounds relaxing, and judging by the fact that the resort has a crazy 10,000-square-foot spa (which includes two couples’ suites, which I’m guessing would be ideal for those couples massages), that appears to be the point. Plus, for the mama who wants to get active, there’s a friendly 1.2-mile daily hike to Camino Encantado, a historic ridge trail on the north side of the property. It just sounds and looks like it would be oh-so-relaxing for a pregnant mom-to-be, doesn’t it?

So while a babymoon isn’t on the agenda for me, maybe one of you pregnant readers can go and fill me in on the awesomeness that it is. I’d love to hear all about the pampering … and just what that craving menu entails!

Did you take a babymoon? And if you’re pregnant, do you plan to? —Erin
