3 Chocolates for Your Valentine’s Day Fix

Now, you know that there are some great health benefits to dark chocolate, but let me tell you, I know from experience that a really delicious chocolate treat can also benefit your relationship, especially on a special day. You know, like Valentine’s Day (if you’re into that sort of thing) or another day that has meaning to you both.
Now, whether you’re the world’s biggest chocolate fan (like my chocoholic husband) or just think it’s one of many tasty treats available (*raises hand sheepishly*), it’s easy to find the sheer number of options overwhelming. From bars to bags to bonbons, as long as you find a high-quality chocolate, you’re unlikely to go wrong, but, because I’m such a team player, I’ve sampled three dark chocolate products I’m pretty sure you’re going to love.

For Snacking: barkTHINS

Sometimes, you just want a taste of chocolate, maybe to complement your wine, or maybe because your sweet tooth is driving you nuts but you don’t need to splurge on a ton of calories. Well, if you’re looking for a “snacking chocolate,” that’s exactly what you get with barkTHINS.
The whole reason barkTHINS were created was to satisfy that snacking urge, and, with these thin (as in, thin enough to easily snap off a small piece), crunchy, flavorful fair-trade chocolate barks available in seven flavors, satisfaction comes pretty easily. Each flavor includes a different ingredient, and with flavors like Dark Chocolate Pumpkin Seed or Dark Chocolate Almond, you’re getting some extra goodies with each nibble, too.

For Sharing: Vosges Super Dark Super Foods + Dark Chocolate

Whether you’re wanting just a small square or want to split a bar of really amazing chocolate with someone special, you could do a lot worse than a Vosges Super Dark Haut-Chocolat Bar. I’m currently working on a bar of the Guajillo & Chipotle Chili flavor, which is 72 percent cacao and packed with flavor. There’s spice, but it’s subtle — you don’t need to worry about burning your tongue here. But, if you don’t want to take the chance, many other flavors are just as interesting, like Matcha Green Tea and Spirulina or Coconut Ash and Banana.

For Seducing: Chuao Chocolatier Aphrodisiac Heart Bonbon Collection

You know the chocolates that you picture feeding your significant other over a candlelit table? This is the chocolate you’re thinking of. These gorgeous heart-shaped bonbons from Chuao Chocolatier come in a romantic box (even if you only get five!) and offer a variety of flavors — Salt Butter Caramel, Meyer Lemon Mojito and more, and all of them include an aphrodisiac ingredient.
They’re definitely delicious, but do they work? C’mon now, I’m a lady. I don’t eat chocolate and tell.
Do you equate chocolate with romance? I think it’s a healthy part of a balanced romantic encounter!Kristen
