Make Your Smoothie Move

I got a blender at my wedding shower back in 2005. The trusty Black & Decker served its purpose for nearly a decade until part of it cracked and up it went to appliance heaven. Soon after its demise, my husband celebrated his five-year work anniversary. He was handed a catalog and told to choose a gift. He, of course, handed it over to me. Instead of the company-logo tote bag or cuff links, I went the practical route: a blender. We needed one, and here was one for free. Besides, I’d been mentally waffling on blenders for awhile and here, the decision was made for me.

Life lesson: Maybe don’t let a work anniversary catalog decide on a blender for you.

I can’t even remember what I tried to make in it (my memory is not as trusty as my Black & Decker), but there were green chunks involved and the thing didn’t even blend. It didn’t even BLEND, its one job. It felt wasteful, but off that blender went to appliance heaven because I didn’t even want to donate it and subject someone to its non-blending abilities. (Seriously, it didn’t even blend.)

Luckily Kohl’s #MakeYourMove campaign was right on time for me, too. With warmer weather finally here, I was ready to start whipping up my morning smoothies again. The smoothies that make me feel energized and ready to tackle the day. The smoothies that easily help me cut down on my coffee intake because I love to drink them so much. The smoothies that let me get tons of greens for breakfast. And the smoothies that let me trick my son into eating veggies. The smoothies that are my main reason for needing a blender.

I needed something powerful, and I’d been leaning toward the Ninja, so I made my move to Kohl’s to scope them out. I was sold on the Ninja XL’s Total Crushing Technology (which I have to say in a pro-wrestling announcer voice), huge 72-ounce capacity, and the blades that look like they’re a serious danger to bananas. Plus, you can always find sales at Kohl’s so the price wasn’t bad either.

After having tested it out for a few smoothies, I’ll say the Ninja has karate-chopped its way into my heart. It turned this…

into this beauty in just seconds.

It’s super powerful and whips up my smoothies in less than a minute. Plus, it’s so easy to clean because you simply have the lid, blades and pitcher — no small parts to hassle with like my other one. It’s pretty loud and practically scared the diaper off the baby (I actually expected it to be way louder, but the baby is new to the blender world), but I can also use it to make baby food purees, so she’s working on forgiving us for the noise in exchange for delicious foods.

Kohl’s seriously has so many ways to #MakeYourMove to increase the awesomeness in your life. Whether you’re like Kristen and need to tone down the stress, like me and need some new kitchen supplies to help you cook and eat healthier or need yoga gear to help you hit the mat, they’ve got you covered.

How will you #MakeYourMove? I just might also treat myself to a swimsuit for Mother’s Day! Go ahead and follow Kohl’s on social (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest) using #MakeYourMove — they’ll be sharing ways you can make your move too! —Erin
