This Stuff Makes Spring Cleaning a Little Bit Happier

I’ll be the first to admit that cleaning and I don’t get along. You know how people sometimes say they were “in the mood” to do some spring cleaning? Yeah, that’s not me. I do regularly pick up the house so that it’s not totally cluttered, but actually getting down and scrubbing the bathtub and floors? Well, I generally put it off as long as possible — pretty much until the threat of someone stopping by unannounced shames motivates me to clean.

But, I have to say, cleaning has gotten a little happier recently … I was sent the below goodies in the mail from EverydayHappy and since then cleaning has been easier and more enjoyable for me and my husband (and probably my daughter, too, once she’s old enough to start scrubbing, mwahahaha).

There are a few reasons for this. First, all of EverdayHappy’s cleaning products are non-toxic (no harsh chemicals and dyes), sustainable and cruelty-free. That makes me feel good — and that they’re safe for the whole family to be around (because, um, you never know when your dog — or toddler — might be licking the floor or the sides of the bathtub). Second, they smell legitimately good. And not chemically good — fresh and bright. Third, you don’t need a million products to clean your house. Between the All-Glass Cleaner, Power Sponge and All-Purpose Cleaner, we pretty much had the house covered. We scrubbed the bathtub, mopped the kitchen floor, wiped down the countertops, cleaned sinks, etc. The only extra product I needed was toilet bowl cleaner. (Maybe they’ll make that next?!) Fourth, they’re affordable. Freakin’ 99 cents for the Power Sponge? That’s a steal. And $4.95 for each bottle of the All-Glass Cleaner and All-Purpose Cleaner ain’t too shabby.

And fifth, they work. Like, work, work.

I usually hate to clean the bathtub because it takes forever and is so darn difficult to do. (No matter how much I convince myself it’s a good workout, I just abhor doing it.) But the Power Sponge made easy work of it. That thing was sparkling in five minutes flat — and I barely sweat doing it. (A true first.) The All-Glass Cleaner made all of our mirrors and windows crystal clear and the All-Purpose Cleaner left our floors and countertops clean and smelling like citrus without any sort of residue.

I’m not going to say that I’m one of those people who love to clean, but this certainly has me liking it more. Much, much more. And, damn, a clean house sure is nice. If you’re looking to be more mindful about the products you use in your home — and wish you liked cleaning more, too — consider EverydayHappy. They’re doing it right.

How mindful are you of the ingredients in your cleaning products? When I saw on the package of the Power Sponge that it was “formaldehyde free” it had me checking the labels of my other cleaning products … —Jenn
