MamaBuys: Shannon Miller Books & More! (Plus a Giveaway!)

Shannon Miller JournalThe Shannon Miller extravaganza continues! If you missed it last week, we interviewed the Olympic gold medalist herself and reviewed her Body After Baby workout DVD. This week I’m letting you in on more of the products from the Shannon Miller Lifestyle line!

Food Journal and Running Log

First in the lineup are Shannon’s journals. I’ve made no secret about having a tough time keeping a food or exercise journal. But now that I have pregnancy weight to lose, I’m a bit more motivated to write down my eats and treats! The Food Journal & Exercise Log makes keeping track of exercise and food intake a cinch. The slim book is about the size of my hand—perfect to slip in a purse (or diaper bag!). On the left side of the page is the food journal; on the right is the exercise log. Even if you don’t count calories, the journal can help keep you accountable. And for me, it helps me notice that I’m taking in a couple too many cookies each day! The exercise portion gives a space to log cardio, strength and flexibility, serving as a reminder each day that you need all three to thrive!

If you’re a runner or are training for a race, Shannon’s Runner’s Journal is your best bet. You can record every detail of your run, from what you ate pre- and post-run to what the weather was like to your shoe mileage. Perfect for hard-core training!

Shannon To-Go

Shannon Miller books to goFor the busy woman, the SML book to-go are the perfect solution—especially for travel. The three slender flip books—yoga, stretching and abs—give detailed instructions on common stretches, yoga poses and exercises for abdominals. The books have great tips on proper form and are perfect to take with you on the road or to the gym if you’re like me and draw a blank when trying to come up with moves on your own!

Pregnancy Cookbook

Shannon Miller CookbookI so wish I’d had this cookbook while I was pregnant! I felt hungry all the time, and I ate so frequently that I got incredibly bored with my healthy meals and snacks. (I also didn’t have a ton of energy to get too creative or spice up my meal plans!)

Shannon’s Healthy & Balanced Pregnancy Cookbook is a great resource for pregnant women. It includes 50 recipes so you’ll be set from breakfast through dinner and snacks in between. But it also has pregnancy-friendly features, such as icons for recipes that will help with nausea and those that aren’t so smelly. Morning sickness sufferers will appreciate those, but icons for items high in calcium and fiber are helpful to all women trying to be healthy. I love the tidbits and anecdotes from Shannon throughout the book, as well as her family pictures sprinkled throughout. She even discusses how she coped with gestational diabetes.

All in all, a gold medal trifecta of healthy products! Thanks, Shannon! —Erin
