Kuru Shoe Review…and a Pair for You!
I may have mentioned it a time or two, but I’m not the most fashion-forward mama on the block. When running errands, especially with a kiddo, I opt for comfort and function over fashion. I’m a tennis shoe or Chucks kind of girl. I’m clumsy enough, especially during pregnancy, without giving myself an extra few inches of height with a stiletto.
So when the footwear company KURU sent me its Aalto Chukka shoe to try, I was in. A non-tennis shoe that I could run errands in? Sign me up!
Designed for travel, walking and light-duty hiking, the shoe stacks up nicely to the comfort of my regular kicks. While the rubber sole can make them feel slightly clunkier than a more fashionable shoe, it’s the rubber that also helps make them super comfortable and sturdy—a great shoe for the varying fall and winter weather. The rubber is also an eco-conscious choice; the company values making sustainable, earth-friendly choices.
The soft suede upper takes the shoe up a style notch from sneakers, but the sockliner custom molds to your feet and is designed for arch support for a healthy stride. I have a high arch, and these worked out great for me. With a price of just over $100, they’re a splurge for most, but the holidays are coming up, so you can always give a special someone a hint! If you’re a more serious hiker, you have to check out the more durable Kruzr II shoe ($89.97). There’s something about this orange shoe that screams “I kick ass.”
