A Crazy Healthy Booze-Free Sangria

Say you’re like me and you love sangria. Say you’re like me and you can easily sit on the porch drinking it with friends for hours. Say you’re like me and doing that, while fun, doesn’t exactly make you feel very healthy or motivated the next day.
So, say you’re looking for something to drink that’s sangria, but without the sugar and alcohol hangover the next day.

This sangria gives alcohol a run for its money and keeps you hydrated with plenty of vitamins,” Karliin Brooks says.
Ingredients
  • 2 beets
  • 1 bunch beetroot leaves (that are attached to your beets)
  • 2 oranges
  • 2 pears
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup (optional for sweetness)
  • 2 cups any chopped fruit you like (apples, oranges, limes, pears, and melons are a good combo)
Instructions
  1. Wash all produce very well. Juice all produce, except the 2 cups of chopped fruit. Add the juice along with the cinnamon, cayenne and maple syrup to a large pitcher.  Add the chopped fruit and marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Have you ever tried juicing beets before — with the leaves? I have new homework. —Jenn

  1. Look, it contains lots of antioxidants, great. This drink has an attractive red color. Sangria is a drink made from wine, but that’s not a strong alcohol that makes you drunk, right?
