Who Knew? It’s More Herbs, Less Salt Day
August 29, 2008 by Jenn
Today is the official “More Herbs, Less Salt Day.” While it may not be as celebrated as, say, the recent National Duran Duran Appreciation Day or S’mores Day (both observed on August 10 and oh-so delicious), More Herbs, Less Salt Day should get its time in the spotlight. After all, herbs are tasty (the legal kinds, kiddos), and salt in excess causes a whole gamut of health probs including high blood pressure, strain on the kidneys and bloat. Boo on too much salt. Unless, of course, you are referring to this salt, in which case, the Fit Bottomed Girls say shake it on!
I plan on whipping up some wheat pizza dough and topping it with some crazy-good pesto and veggies, while jamming to Shoop and Whatta Man (that Salt-N-Pepa hit just wasn’t enough). After, I imagine I’ll look like this.

OMG I am SO going to have this song stuck in my head all day HAHAHAAA
LOL
What a great song – and I love that cat.
Is More Herbs Less Salt day for REAL – really??? Who thinks of these things?!
Yep, according to our wacky days source (http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/August/herbsaltday.htm), it’s a day. Crazy and a bit contrived, eh?
Haha, flashback!! I do miss those clothes.
Interesting holiday! I think it’s definitely true that herbs are a great way to add flavor without extra sodium, so I suppose it should be celebrated?!
I am still laughing at that cat.
