Biggest Loser Recap: Last Week on the Ranch

If you would have told me back when The Biggest Loser Season 11 started that you’d have three women in the final four—two of whom were sisters—I would have said you’re nutters. Now if you had also told me that none of the people in the final four would be big young guys (or, you know, Olympic medalists), I would have sung Cee Lo’s “Crazy” to you, completely out of tune and in full peacock costume. So, it’s safe to say that this season has been surprising, and in a really inspiring and amazing sort of way.

I know I always go on and on about how motivational this show is—even when I don’t agree with everything on it—but the four people left standing really get it. Losing weight isn’t just about the number on the scale. It’s about self worth, what you value and how much you respect yourself. I teared up watching the weigh-ins and recaps last night because they all just seem to get that. (The perfect episode for our three-year birthday week, right?!)

I really loved this episode’s golfing challenge, too, where they were able to physically “relive” each week on the Ranch by carrying the weight they started with and dropping the pounds they lost each week at each hole on the course. The symbolism of how far they’ve come—along with the images of them easily doing exercises they could barely attempt to do in week one—was amazing to see and totally empowering for the contestants.

The whole episode ends on a positive note, too, with everyone doing well at the weigh-in. I’ll be curious to see who America decides to pick for the finale—Jay or Irene—but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a three-woman show. For more on last night’s episode, check out the episode 19 recap video below by Mark Pinhasovich from BL season 10!
