Raw Chips Head-to-Head Review: Brad’s Raw Foods vs. Rhythm Superfoods

Rhythm Superfoods Chips

I love easy snacks. I know, I know, I should reach for a carrot or an apple when I’m hungry in the middle of the day, but sometimes, well, I just don’t want produce. But, I don’t want to consume a bunch of empty calories, either.

Rhythm Superfoods offers Sweet Potato Chips in two flavors (Sea Salt, which I tried, and Hickory BBQ), as well as five flavors of Kale Chips (Mango Habanero, which I sampled, Zesty Nacho, Kool Ranch, Bombay Curry and Texas BBQ). The Sweet Potato Chips, which are 100 calories and zero grams of fat per bag, are organic, gluten-free, vegan, raw and have loads of vitamin A. The Kale Chips are also raw, offer a whole bunch of vitamin C and boast two servings per bag at 130 calories and 6 grams of fat a pop. The chips are created by mixing fresh vegetables with spices, then dehydrating them at a low temperature for hours, which, according to Rhythm Superfoods, “leaves the vital nutrients and enzymes intact, while delivering…amazing fresh flavors.”

There is nothing not to love about a chip that actually provides important nutrients, and I’ve got to say, the flavor of the ones I sampled was really great. I was particularly pleased with the Kale Chips in the Mango Habanero flavor ($20 for a four-pack)—I don’t love kale, but this flavor was really tasty. However, I have a hard time getting around the texture. While there is a certain amount of crunch, there’s no way I was going to mistake these for a chip, especially the Sweet Potato version, which felt a bit mealy in my mouth (although still tasted good and sweet potato-y). So, bottom line—definitely a cool new option for a snack, but don’t try passing them off as regular chips to your party guests.

I’m actually afraid to try these. I am juicing kale right now as I am doing a Reboot similar to the documentary Fat Sick and Nearly Dead. But the kale just tastes grassy, but now that you have reviewed maybe I will give them a try.

I LOOOOOOVE kale chips!!!!Especially the cheezy kind. And yes, I have to restrain myself, or else I’d eat an entire bag in a single sitting.

  3. Thanks for the review! I’ve never tried kale chips but I am so excited to get some now! Where do you usually buy these?

Most natural foods stores have them (like Whole Foods) or you can get them online. We’ve linked to each of the products in the review. Happy shopping! 🙂

Brad’s Kale chips are amazing and addicting! I love the fact that the leafy kale chips are RAW!!! They are pricey, but definitely worth the splurge each week. I just ordered half a case (12 packages) from his website, and with the shipping, it saves me about $.50/package.
