Work Out With Your Dog: 10 Cute Moves You Can Do Together!

workout-dog-585You knew we had to have a doggie-person workout for Fit Bottomed Pets’ Week, right? Um, of course! This fun work-out-with-your-dog routine comes to us courtesy of Tricia Montgomery of the K9 Fit Club, which offers a variety of classes and programs that help peeps get fit with their pooches. Tricia developed the company after losing 130+ pounds herself!

10 Moves to Work Out With Your Dog

Created by Diana Ozimek and featuring Tricia’s pup Zeus, a 3-year-old red-nosed Pitbull, this full-body workout can be done with or without a dog—but it’s far cuter with one. Go through all of the moves once, twice or three times depending on how much time you and your pup have and how much burn you want to feel!

Warm-up. Perform a short warm-up by doing a combination of the following exercises for three to five minutes prior to starting the exercises: march in place, shoulder rolls, walking high knees and walking butt kicks.

1. Lateral Raises: Can be performed while standing or from a seated position, sitting up tall and tightening the core. Hold a set of light weights or resistance tubing and slowly lift your arms out to the side with elbows slightly bent. Lift arms until they are parallel to the floor, slowly return back to start with arms down at side. Complete 10 to 15 reps then switch sides.

With your dog: Have your dog sit or lie down next to you. You can perform the exercise on one side while holding your dogs leash with the other hand.
