Get Your Massage on: Wahl’s Massager

diy massage

How many times have you finished a hard workout (or, you know, woken up a day or two after a serious sweat session) and wished above all else that you had a massage therapist on retainer? I mean, sure, you can always pull out the foam roller or roll around on a tennis or lacrosse ball (and, in fact, I highly recommend that you do!), but sometimes, you want a more gentle self massage.

But, you know, without working too hard at it. This massage is supposed to be a pleasure, after all, right?

Wahl offers a whole line of personal massagers, and I recently checked out its Deluxe Therapy massager, which has two massage speeds and three attachments to provide a variety of massage experiences.

Now, it’s effective, but not in the way I anticipated. It doesn’t give much of a deep massage, even if you use quite a bit of pressure with the knobbiest of massage heads. It does, however, offer a lot of vibration, which does more for my stiff muscles than I would’ve guessed.

The massager boasts a flexible head, which is not terribly accurate — it only bends slightly each way, so if you’re trying to get to hard-to-reach places like your back, you might still need a second person to lend a hand. But, it’ll be far less work for that second person than it would be for them to use just their hands!

Does this fully replace a true massage from a professional? No, I don’t think it does. But, a personal massager like this (available for just $24.99 on Amazon) can help loosen things up between appointments!

Have you ever used a personal massager? What did you think? —Kristen
