Hand washing is an obvious way to help stay healthy this winter, but what else can you do to feel great? Here are five Fit Bottomed things that keep us going strong all winter long.

5 Ways To Stay Fit and Feeling Fine This Winter

1. Get that awesome humidifier. A humidifier may seem like a luxury, but believe us, it’s not. A good humidifier cranked up over the winter months can help to put moisture into the air, which can help to bring relief to a stuffy nose. Because ain’t nobody got time for a stuffy nose! (We’ve got workouts to do and winter fun to have, yo.)

2. Eat in-season fruits and veggies.Tis the season to eat comfort foods (I’m looking at you pie and holiday cookies), but don’t forget to make lots of room for in-season fruits and veggies. Yes, the weather might be cooler and the trees may have lost their leaves, but there are still plenty of yummy fresh fruits and veggies available. Stock up on produce like grapefruit, kiwi, pomegranate, pears, kale, sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts. (Think you don’t like Brussels sprouts? Try this recipe and change your mind.) They’re all deliciously good for you!

3. Try a gentler workout. If you’re beginning to feel a little under the weather this winter, go gentle with your workouts. Do some easy yoga at home (we love these feel-good yoga poses), bundle up and go for a winter walk, or squeeze in a few Pilates moves with a workout DVD. High-intensity workouts are awesome, but if you have low energy or think you might be fighting something, easy exercise might be just the way to go. Stock up on easy workout options now so that you have them in a pinch!

4. Use Zarbee’s Naturals 99% Cough Soothers. These are brand new and oh-so wonderful. Made from honey with natural mint flavors, these little drops are great for the whole family ages 5 and up and soothe coughs associated with hoarseness, dry throats and irritants (so common in winter!). With no processed sugar, artificial flavors or artificial sweeteners, you can feel really good about stocking up on these, too. Find them at CVS — just look for the cute little hexagonal box. (As you can see in the photo above, it looks like a beehive. Adorbs.)

5. Get plenty of sleep. This time of year is full of fun stuff to do: parties, shopping, family gatherings … the list goes on and on. But the one thing you must make time for? Your zzzs! Getting good rest helps to keep your immune system strong, aids muscle recovery and just feels great. I mean, is there anything better than a good night’s sleep? Nope. (Says the woman who was up five times with her 9-month-old! Trust me, sleep is AMAZING and way better than coffee.)

What are you stocking up on this winter? I have to say, I’m also stocking up on Zarbee’s Cough & Throat Relief nighttime and daytime hot drink mixes. They’re just so soothing — and warm in winter!Jenn
