And the Mystery Prize Goes To…

Last weekend we asked you to create your own funny, faux holiday, and you guys did not disappoint. Although we had a number of spit-your-Vitamin-Water-out-of-your-nose entries, we decided on the following three hilarious holidays (listed in no particular order). We shall celebrate them with you wholeheartedly.

E-Liz of the Funky Fresh, formally known as Lizzy, for National Save the School Pet Guinea Pig from Further Abuse at the Hands of Children Day or SSPGPFAHC Day. (*Note that the acronym echoes the noise a squished-too-hard piggy would make.)

Crabby McSlacker for National Defrost Your Freezer Day. Sure, at first glance it sounds like one of those virtuous boring holidays where you have to do an ugly chore. But it’s actually celebrated by throwing all the freezer-burned frozen vegetables that are making you feel guilty in the trash, and by consuming pizza, tacquitos, and all the ice cream you can eat before it melts.

★Amy at Think Well, Act Well, Live Well for Chocoholic Awareness Day. The purpose of this day is to spread awareness of the benefits of chocolate. For example, chocolate is known to awaken endorphins, making one feel happy. It contains serotonin, a neurotransmitter that acts like an anti-depressant. Mix those two benefits together and you’re on cloud nine! It does not cause acne, and surprisingly both chocolate and cocoa contain certain properties that fight against the sugar added to it that causes tooth decay. To celebrate Chocoholic Awareness Day, chocolate is eaten throughout the day and is the central theme to parties. You can have chocolate ice cream and cake for breakfast today, little Jimmy. And Mary is quite content to be bringing a chocolate sandwich cookie, chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate covered pretzels for lunch to school. Pot-luck parties center around the most chocolaty desserts served with your choice of beverage (although most prefer a cold glass of milk at these social gatherings). Just as in any holiday, there is no requirement to participate in the celebratory decadence, but please refrain from spoiling the fun for everyone else!

For these winning efforts, we are awarding Liz, Crabby and Amy with a download of the fabulous documentary Super Size Me. The movie may have been out for awhile, but I guarantee that if you ever feel weak for a Big Mac, after a few minutes of watching this hilarious and eye-opening documentary about fast food on your iPod, you will be running to the closest health food store begging for tofu, flax seed and kale.

Winners: Look for your special download in your e-mail soon! Those who didn’t win: Be on the lookout for more fun giveaways coming up. –Jenn
