Diet Aid Awareness

We all know there are no quick fixes in the weight-loss game, but that doesn’t stop many people from trying to find that magic solution. Unfortunately, some people looking at those big promises and insane before-and-after pictures got the short end of the stick when they tried Hydroxycut. Now, federal drug regulators have warned consumers to stop using the product, citing reports of liver, heart and kidney problems in some users. The maker of the product has voluntarily recalled some of its products, which claim to increase energy, burn calories and fat, and control appetite. Sowhile those ads can be oh-so-tempting, it’s not worth the risk.

Be warned.

Putt with Puma

While I’m not a golfer, my brother is, and I’ve walked enough golf courses to know that the sport is a great workout (assuming you’re not riding in a golf cart). For the third year, Puma is bringing its Puma Open to 15 cities in 2009 to help golf novices and seasoned players experience the sport. From May through October, Puma will hold the interactive golf events to shake up the sport, with nontraditional holes, Vegas-style card games, cocktails and prizes. In the Puma Open, teams of four complete in a scramble that tests golf skill and know-how. Fun twists include playing an entire hole with a seven iron, and a timed hole, where the team that plays the hole fastest gets a better score.

Pound Prevention

With a familiar-sounding slogan, the National Institutes of Health’s We Can! program has partnered with Subway to share practical tips and tools to help families maintain a healthy weight and prevent obesity. Proving that he’s not going anywhere any time soon, Subway’s Jared Fogle and athletes Laila Ali and Tab Ramos will be featured in the partnership. We Can!, which stands for Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity & Nutrition, will help bring families and communities together to promote health weight in youngsters. After all, it all starts with the kids!
