Kashi Go Delicious: New Granola Bars and Cereal for Autumn

Ever since I got hooked on Kashi GoLean cereal (protein and fiber in a bowl—woot!), I’ve been a Kashi fan. From their pizzas to their pita chips, there doesn’t seem to be much the company makes that doesn’t make my mouth happy. Kashi recently released two new products that we thought were worth taste-testing to see if they were, indeed, as tasty as the rest of the foods in the Kashi family. (As if I need an excuse to try new Kashi stuff…)

Kashi pretty much had me at peanutty and dark chocolate, but these granola bars are a super-sweet treat that’s more like dessert than a snack. With 130 calories a bar, 4.5 grams of fat, 80 grams of sodium, 4 grams of fiber, 4 grams of protein and 7 grams of sugar, they’re pretty good in the nutrition department. Made with Kashi’s signature blend of whole grains, the bars are chewy and peanutty with a thick layer of dark chocolate on top, plus more nuts and little chocolate pieces. Because you can never have too many nuts and too much chocolate. I wish these bars had a touch more protein and a little less sugar, but, overall, a granola bar I’d feel good about giving the whole fam when on the go.

Lately, the weather in the mornings has been crisp and cool—everything autumn should be. And Kashi Cinnamon Harvest Cereal? Well, it’s pretty much the most “autumn” cereal I can think of eating. These little organic wheat biscuits combine cinnamon and organic evaporated cane juice crystals for a hearty, spicy and sweet start to your morning. Per 28-biscuit serving (I love that the serving is per biscuit—just strikes me as cute), you get 47 grams of whole grains, 180 calories, 1 gram of fat, zero grams of sodium, 5 grams of fiber, 6 grams of protein and 9 grams of sugar. The “biscuits” are like shredded wheat, which little ones may think look boring compared to brightly colored marshmallows. But if you can get your kids to eat them, I think they’ll like them. And if not? Hey, more for mama. Give me a pumpkin latte, and this might be the perfect fall breakfast…

Do you and your family eat Kashi products? What are your faves? Which ones leave more to be desired? —Jenn

I love Kashi Cinnamon Harvest cereal! It’s my favorite breakfast, although I mix it up with Kashi Autumn Wheat to make sure I don’t get tired of the wonderful cinnamon flavor. I like that it is a natural source of fiber and doesn’t have too much sugar.

I love that it’s natural with ingredients I recognize 🙂
