Vaportrim: Our Take on a New Weight-Loss Product
I don’t buy into quick fixes, but I’m always interested in products designed to help me curb my cravings without the use of anything harmful. I may believe in “everything in moderation,” but boy, it’s a hard practice for me to follow 100 percent of the time!
With all that being said, when Vaportrim asked if I’d like to check them out, I was all for it—after all, it contains no drugs, stimulants, diuretics, fat blockers or calories, so what is there to lose, right? And at $9.95 each, with approximately 50 uses per product, it’s a fairly affordable option.
This weight-loss product is based on the premise that 70 to 75 percent of what we taste is actually smell, so according to Vaportrim, enhancing smell can actually make us feel fuller faster, helping you eat less and lose weight. (They compare it to the concept of baking all day in the kitchen, surrounded by the smells of the food you’re making, and not having an appetite by the time you sit down. However, that’s only been the case for me when I’ve snacked all day, so this was a new concept to me!) You simply breathe in the flavor (and there are 14 dessert-y flavors to choose from), then breathe out water vapor—you can learn more about the science behind it and how to use it in their video.
In theory, it sounds amazing. And, when I tried the Blueberry Muffin flavor, what do you know? It had a very intense, very blueberry muffin-y flavor!
There’s just one problem for me—the act of breathing in the flavor and breathing out water vapor closely resembles smoking. In fact, the images on the fact sheet show people holding their Vaportrim like a cigarette, which I’m having a hard time being okay with.
To be clear, this is absolutely not a smoking product. There is no tobacco, or anything like that—it’s simply the action that I’m not comfortable with. I’ve never smoked (it grosses me out in a big, big way), and the only thing I’ve breathed in and out is my inhaler for asthma, so I think this is just a concept that’s a little too out-of-the-box for me.
Now, that doesn’t mean it’s without its merits. Like I said, the blueberry muffin flavor was right on. And, I have to say, this is definitely a concept I haven’t seen before, which is refreshing. So if you’re not averse to inhaling a flavored product, I can’t think of a reason not to try it. Not to mention that if you do smoke and are looking for something to help you stop, this might be an interesting alternative.
What do you guys think? Are you itching to try this out, or do you share my discomfort? —Kristen

It wouldn’t bother me other than if you are at work you’d look a little odd at your desk huffing on it. I guess in the privacy of your own home it wouldn’t be that bad, but at work I’d feel like I was on display.
No thank you! I’ll stick with the crazy concept of Eat less, move more.
This reminds me way too much of the E-Cigarette, which my boyfriend smokes; he’s trying to quit.
I must say, him smelling like cinnamon is much better than cigarette 🙂
Also, I am reminded of…well, I can not remember if y’all did a review on it, but I did see the product on a T.V. show about weight loss…AnyWho, it was a dessert spray that you sprayed directly on your tongue whenever you wanted to eat a treat. The woman who used it lost 2 pounds in 1 week and said she loved it !
It reminds me of the Sensa product, which is still in the box in my garage. Like D above, I’d feel on display using it, and like Gretchen above, it smells like a gimmick (pun intended). But you what know? I would try it!
I agree that the faux smoking part is creepy but did it curb your appetite?
Thanks!
