The Ultimate Hips, Bum and Thigh Workout by Amanda Russell

A couple of months ago, we stumbled upon Amanda Russell, an Olympic-trained athlete, celebrity fitness expert, model, founder of The AR Program, and Google’s “Next Top Fitness Personality in 2012.” We immediately loved her can-do attitude and her YouTube channel, which is full of awesome free workouts. So when she offered to let us share some of her workouts—especially those targeting our fit bottoms—with our readers, well, we knew we had to. Read on and watch for her killer 15-minute lower-body routine!

The Ultimate Hips, Bum and Thigh Workout

The whole hip, bum and thigh region is amongst the biggest problem areas for women (and men, although they are less vocal about it!). This is my personal favorite workout for butt-firming, leg-toning, and hip- and thigh-slimming to enable you to get the bum and backside of your dreams! The added bonus? These specific exercises target those cellulite-prone areas thus enabling you to minimize your cellulite. All you need is yourself and 15 minutes!

What to do: Perform 50 reps of each exercise, and complete as many rounds as you can in 15 minutes, leaving you with a big burn. When you’re sore tomorrow, you’ll know it’s working!

The Workout: As many rounds as you can in 15 minutes:

  • Lunges, 50 reps (25 each leg)
  • Bodyweight Squats, 50 reps
  • Back Extensions, 50 reps

Okay, this totally inspired me to get off my butt and go through the circuit twice! I didn’t time myself, but twice was enough for after 9 pm. I will admit that I was feeling guilty over eating 3 hershey’s kisses moments before, which is especially strange because to the right of this comment box is an ad saying “boycott hershey! no kisses for hershey.” Is that a sign? No more processed chocolate for me? I’ll take it 😉

  2. Moi says:

    I’d like to know what that woman eats…for a day, a week, a month, a year…fabulous!

  3. Tania says:

Awesome video – thanks for sharing – I found it on Pinterest and have reposted it and told my friends on facebook about it – I could nearly even do this at work.

  4. I am so doing this! Thanks FBG!

I have been doing this particular exercise for 5 days now. I am totally sore. I have read that one must not work out the same muscle area/region every day. I certainly don’t mind doing this everyday for 15 minutes, but also don’t want to damage my muscles rather than building them. So, how often should I do this exercise?

    Also, Amanda Russell, THANK YOU!

    1. Jenn says:

We’d recommend a few times a week with at least a day in between! 🙂

I’m definitely excited to start this routine! Got fitted for a bridesmaid dress and came up as three different sizes! Ugh!! The Bowflex Treadclimber is helping to lose the weight but now it’s time to tone things up! Here’s hoping I can pull things together before alteration time haha (: Thanks for posting!!

  9. Scarlet says:

Hips, Bum and Thigh Workout. Do this 15 minutes a day and when you’re sore you’ll know it’s working. It really will work if you do it daily and by daily basis you’re body will get the result you want.

  10. Awesome Video. Thanks for sharing.
