Does Junk Food Affect Your Mood?

The book we reviewed earlier this week, Junk Foods and Junk Moods, posed a good question: Do junk foods cause junk moods or do junk moods cause us to eat junk foods? Either way, we all know that we shouldn’t eat a lot of junk food. Because we preach the “all good things in moderation” rule here in FBG land, we’d never recommend that you totally outlaw any food in your diet. However, I have noticed that when I eat not-so-great-for-me-food, my mood does nosedive a bit, and I just feel lethargic. (Which makes it much easier for me to avoid the stuff.) Are you the same? Or can you eat it like a champ?

    It doesn`t really effect my mood, maybe I feel a bit lazy when I eat junk food and it make me want some more =P..anyway I am not fan of junk food, I mean I like the taste but I know it`s not healthy, so I stay as far away as possible 🙂

    I think it does long term. I use to think that a cheeseburger, coke or a chocolate bar made me feel good short term and sometimes it did! But long term it was causing low moods. I have noticed a huge difference in my moods since going off sugar and junk food. If you suffer from depression, anxiety or PMT it will help you to go off the junk!

  3. I have noticed a big difference since going off sweets lately. I haven’t had junk food for a long time but I used to enjoy sweets. Well, I guess those are junk foods too. Now with eating more fruits, veggies, etc. I feel really, really good. And I’ve lost 16 lbs too in 6 weeks. woo-hoo. More to go though.

  4. When I am stress I eat junk foods. It makes me feel good.
