Feline Fitness: Other Ways to Keep Kitty Moving

Even the most playful pet owners can’t play games all the time, but there are other ways to help your cat’s health. Interactive feeders have been a major trend for dogs over the past few years, and now cats are getting in on the game. Remember, it’s not just your kitty’s weight you want to keep healthy—you want to work her mind, too.

The Aikou Stimulo was the first of these I saw on the market, and it’s a really neat product that will make your cat work (and think) for her dinner. Nina Ottosson, who’s long been a favorite for her canine food puzzles, now offers a Cat Treat Maze that will definitely get your cat moving.

And, when you just want to reward your kitty for a job well done (whether that means coming to cuddle with you on the couch or not scratching you to death while you clipped her claws), the Feline Lickety Stik is awesome. It’s a low-calorie liquid treat that’s dispensed through a roller ball, which means your kitty can lick (and lick, and lick) as long as you allow it. It has a cap so there’s no mess, and it’s easy to have anywhere—I actually keep one in the living room to reward Trixie for braving the dog-filled living room.

What do you do to keep your cat active and healthy? Any games or unusual toys your kitty just loves? —Kristen
