Best Fit Friend Story: The Fit Adventures of Aubrey and Sandy!
What makes a fit life even better? A BFF! And by that, we mean a Best Fit Friend! As part of BFF Week, we’re sharing some of our readers’ best fit friend stories! Today’s is from Sandy, whose partner in (fit) crime is Aubrey! See all the BFF stories here.
My rock. My motivation. My inspiration. My drive. My partner in fitness. AND my best friend?! How did I get so incredibly lucky to have someone with just as much passion for fitness and health as me as a best friend?
Although we have so many similar fitness interests, we also have our hobbies that make us individuals. We are both a part of a local gym where pretty much the entire staff knows us by name. We rock out Les Mills Body Pump together … “Oh, you’re adding more weight? Okay, well, I better, too!” While she’s dominating Body Step, I’m upstairs in the weight room or sampling the cardio machines. Body Attack & Grit?! Ooh, man I wouldn’t be alive after those classes if it weren’t for her being there to keep me on my feet.
She went to her very first Les Mills Quarterly in Chicago last month, and can I just say how incredibly proud I am of her? Eight hours of intense cardio and strength training. Now that is inspiring. I was such a proud BFF! I made sure to treat her with a basket of goodies the day before … water, fruit, fuel to keep her moving and a little card letting her know I had complete faith in her and how proud of her I was that she was doing this. She more than returned the favor two weeks ago when I finished my very first marathon. Goodies, encouraging signs and a gift card for a marathon.
Wow … remember that part where I mentioned I’m lucky? Aren’t I? We lift each other up … encourage one another to keep going … praise each others’ accomplishments … make fitness fun. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for her and I both in the world of fitness. Great things but if and when there are hiccups and speed bumps, there is no doubt in my mind we will be there together hand in hand pushing each other through. She rocks my socks. BFF … like they say, it’s not a label, it’s a promise!
