Fit Bottomed Girls Bios

Jennipher Walters: As co-owner of Fit Bottomed World, co-author of The Fit Bottomed Girls Anti-Diet, co-host of the Fit Bottomed Girls Podcast, and Editor-in-Chief at Fit Bottomed Girls, Jenn has several fitness credentials under her belt: She is an ACE-certified personal trainer and health coach, and was named as one of the top 100 influencers in health and fitness by Greatist in 2016 and 2017. Jenn has a journalism degree from the University of Missouri and an MA in health journalism from the University of Minnesota. She has also written for numerous online publications including Shape magazineThe Huffington Post and SparkPeople. In her free time, Jenn can be found doing HIIT workouts with her husband, making a mean green smoothie, running laps around the neighborhood with her three daughters, and standing on her soapbox to advocate body positivity. Read her personal journey to becoming an FBG here.

FBG-9Kristen Seymour: Kristen Seymour is co-owner at Fit Bottomed World, co-host of the Fit Bottomed Girls Podcast and holds the position of Editor-in-Chief at Fit Bottomed Eats. She’s an enthusiastic (if not particularly speedy) triathlete, enormous animal lover, and passionate pescatarian foodie (with a special love of Mexican food and roasted veggies). She relies on her dogs to get her outside when she’s feeling lazy, and counts on Twitter (and her fellow FBGs) to motivate her to hit the gym — works like a charm every time. Kristen makes time for yoga — at least a little bit — almost every day and is slowly but steadily making meditation a regular practice, even on (well, especially on) the days when all she can think about is how she can’t possibly make time to just sit and be. She’s a graduate of the University of Florida (Go Gators!), and she and her husband live, swim, bike and run in the Sunshine State with their two mutts and a mercurial cat. Read her personal journey to becoming an FBG here.

FBG-124Erin Whitehead: Erin, co-founder of Fit Bottomed Girls and co-author of The Fit Bottomed Girls Anti-Diet, is the former Editor-in-Chief at Fit Bottomed Mamas and an ACE-certified personal trainer. Erin has a journalism degree from the University of Kansas and is a bit of a word nerd. Erin left Fit Bottomed Girls in 2017 to pursue more professional and workout adventures — and to get more quality time with her husband and three kiddos in New Jersey.

Contributing Writers & Editors

Jenn Andrlik: Jenn has struggled with weight her entire life trying almost every fad diet out there. These days, the former ballet dancer gets her fitness from running after her very active four-year-old son, Spinning, fitness DVDs, and anything she can do at home during her six-month-old daughter’s nap time. Post babies she is ready to get back into tip-top shape and is willing to do anything healthy to reach her goal and feel her best. Anything that is, except give up wine.

Alex Bisges: Alex believes quality of life is dependent (external) self-care. She shares ways of simultaneously maintaining mental and physical well-being. Alex is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City, with a degree in communication studies and political science. Alex has worked in journalism and marketing for a variety of companies as well as news outlets. She joined the FBG team in March of 2016. With an undeniable passion for life, Alex propels herself into new experiences.  She recently learned how to longboard (without a natural talent for coordination). She has found longboarding to be an excellent form of cardio, meditation and and overall — an excellent time. In her free time, Alex can be found traveling, stargazing and laughing.

Kelsey Brazelton: Kelsey joined the FBG team in August 2011 as the site’s first intern and transitioned to contributing writer in December 2012. She is a self-proclaimed on-again off-again exerciser—usually running. She earned her journalism degree at Northwest Missouri State University. Kelsey has worked in the journalism field for a variety of magazines—including fitness and hopes to bring new newbie insight to the site as she tries everything from Pilates DVDs to P90X2.

Nichole Curran: Nichole is a two-time Ironman Triathlete and Ironman 70.3 World Championship qualifier. She has a thrill-seeking personality and loves traveling the world. Some of her favorite adventures to date include glacier hiking, sky diving and sea kayaking. Nothing motivates her more than training, racing and traveling with her husband. This Iowa farm girl turned Kansas City slicker doesn’t know how to sit still. Always on the go, she loves spending time with her pups and has a passion for interior design. She’s a full time pediatric researcher, part-time swim instructor and writer. This cycling enthusiast definitely has a sassy side that tends to come out when you least expect it.

Margo Donohue: Margo is the host/producer of The Fit Bottomed Girls Podcast and creator of the blog, Brooklyn Fit Chick, which has been noted for its lively tone and unique take on fitness and a healthy lifestyle by top media including Shape and Fitness magazine, and MSN’s FitBie.com. Margo is an AFAA-certified group fitness instructor who teaches several classes per week and has private clientele as a NASM-certified personal trainer in her favorite place in the world — Brooklyn, New York. She earned her degree in speech-communications in 1994 from San Jose State University.

201510_alison_col_web-300Alison Heilig: Alison’s journey has taken her from unhealthy fitness phobe to ultra-marathoner, triathlete, obstacle course racer and yogini. Since leaving her corporate legal career in 2015, she’s been dedicated full-time to following her passion for helping others unleash their own inner superhero and blogging about her (many) shenanigans at ThePursuitOfAwesome.com. Alison is a NASM-Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Women’s Fitness Specialist, RRCA-Certified Running Coach and a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher with regular classes at Thrive Yoga and CrossFit Become in Montgomery County, MD. She lives in the suburbs of Washington, DC with her awesome husband (and biggest fan) Chris.

megan-headshotMegan Hinman: Megan has a love-hate relationship with long-distance running and is consistently involved in many other fitness activities. She’s a frequent 5k competitor and will run her first half marathon this Spring. Her weekly indoor soccer games help keep her motivated, though her frequent minor injuries and busy schedule do not. When not caught in her eternal debate, “to run or not to run?,” Megan is working toward her master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from the University of Kansas, writing silly stories and musings for her personal blog, or hanging out at home with her dogs and boyfriend, fixing up the place and all the while wondering how soon she can go to sleep again.

Elysha Lenkin: Elysha has always been a fitness girl, but once she discovered yoga (over two decades ago!) she became passionate about creating a lifestyle of practice to add more meaning to her movement and more purpose in her life. As a wardrobe stylist in NYC, she works on commercial shoots for brands like Ebay, ESPN and Sensodyne. And as a yoga and wellness blogger for MindBodySoul Stylist, she puts her passion into practice by showing people how to get holistically fit with exercises for the mind, body and soul. She’s certified with the Yoga Alliance, and regularly sits (and moves!) in meditation. And when she’s not practicing … she’s hanging out with her family on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

Evan-2Jennifer Schlozman: Jenny is a former Weight Watchers Leader Ambassador, who lost 40 pounds pre-baby and 82 pounds post baby. A runner, triathlete and half-marathoner, she finds comfort in group workouts and loves finding new fit friends. Born and raised in the North suburbs of Chicago but now living in the Kansas City area, Jenny loves long walks in the sun, homemade meals, manicures, the sound of her husband’s voice and slow dancing with her little mister.

Dave Smith: Dave may have a funny Canadian accent, but when it comes to helping women get in shape and lose weight, he’s our go-to expert. Dave has been a personal trainer and health coach since 2001 and was chosen as “Canada’s Top Fitness Professional” in 2013 for his dedication to helping women get AMAZING results that last. Each week he hosts a super-helpful health podcast called Make Your Body Work, and he released a revealing and inspiring book called, Can’t Lose: 14 Winning Weight-Loss Secrets For Women Who Think They Can’t Lose Weight (snag your free copy here). Best of all, Dave teamed up with Jenn and Kristen to offer up the 10 in 4 Challenge, a “love yourself” fitness program that’s helped hundreds of FBGs lose weight and feel awesome inside and out!

Gail Gedan Spencer: Gail writes about healthy living at her blog GoGoGail.com and around the web. She chases lizards down the sidewalk in her South Florida neighborhood and is often buried in an avalanche of cookbooks and workout DVDs. Gail, who is an NASM-certified Weight Loss Specialist, is a former newspaper copy editor and content editor and has worked at papers coast to coast, including the Orange County Register, USA Today and the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. She’s a wife, mom to a hungry college student and really and truly loves green smoothies.

Karen-RomeoKaren Timper: With exercise experience spanning three decades, Karen’s desire to maintain a healthy lifestyle has stayed constant over the years. A true fitness enthusiast, she estimates she’s completed more than 5,000 workouts, but remains eager to check out the latest fitness craze and never misses an opportunity to improve herself. Coupled with her degree in Hospitality Management from the American Culinary Federation Chefs Apprenticeship Program, Karen lends her real life experience to both FBG and Fit Bottomed Eats. These days she can usually be found in her kitchen taste testing recipes or at the gym working off her latest creation.

sean-vigueSean Vigue: Sean is perhaps the only fitness instructor/opera singer in the world and was recently named one of the “Top 50 Online Workout Resources” by The Huffington Post. This year he wrote three bestselling fitness books, Power Yoga for AthletesPilates for Men and Sean Vigue’s 30 Day Beginner Program with more on the way. He has appeared in 2,000 workout videos and taught more than 6,000 live yoga, Pilates, power yoga, flexibility training and Spinning classes, while creating a line of workout DVDs, tending to his popular YouTube channel and building his online training program, Sean’s Vault. Sean lives in the Colorado Rockies with his beautiful wife Jillian and their furry dog/Beast Adelaide (Addie) who steals the show in every workout video she appears in. Sean is honored to be the “most watched yoga and Pilates guy on the planet!” and looks forward to working out with you from anywhere in the world.

20161221_213915McKenzie Wagner: McKenzie likes to think of herself as FBG’s plus-sized ambassador. Since she has struggled with her weight her entire life, she understands the difficulty of starting from fitness level zero and, by sharing her experiences on her journey toward a healthier self, wants to encourage others to do the same. A Kansas farm girl at heart with a BS in Agriculture from Kansas State University, McKenzie happily resides in Kansas City with her inspiring husband (who joined her on the path to health and has lost more than 100 pounds in less than a year!), their two lovable dogs, and their two mostly tolerable cats. She loves to take long bike rides on the trail, walk for miles with her canine companions, and eat the weirdest salads she can find on a menu. When not looking for her next workout obsession, she loves to knit while watching Star Trek, travel with friends, drink sour beers and buy bizarre things at Estate Sales.

katie-wightKatie Everhart Wight: Katie lives in Kansas City with her mister and two furry friends. She earned her Communication Studies degree with a double emphasis in Film and Media Studies & Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Missouri – Kansas City in 2009. She completed her Masters in Library and Information Sciences in 2015 from the University of Central Missouri. Obviously she’s passionate about reading and writing! Katie also loves spending time with family, traveling and being outdoors. She’s discovering what leading a Fit Bottomed Girls lifestyle really means. She’s pretty sure it’s okay to love coffee and chocolate if you balance them out with long dog walks.

Cara Wright: Doctor animals, do triathlons, eat and drink all of the things. This pretty much sums up Cara, a veterinarian who has been lucky enough to live in Italy for the last two years due to her husband’s job. As a swimmer turned runner turned triathlete, she spends her free time riding bikes and coaching the age group and high school swim team. The best thing about living in Europe is getting to experience all of the food and drink the continent has to offer, while running or biking to explore new cities.

Cati Winkel: Cati Winkel is a Certified Parent Coach who helps parents learn how to get through to their kids without the use of spanking, yelling, shame, blame, punishments or rewards. Cati has been obsessed with mindful parenting strategies since the pregnancy of her first child. When she found out how hard it was to follow expert advice and not yell, she pursued a career in parent coaching and learned there was so much more to it than just reading a book. Learn more about her at www.theempoweredparentcoach.com.
