Oh, Dads, Let Me Grab a Tissue

dads

I’ve talked about the End of the Idiot Dad before — the dad who is clueless and doesn’t know the first thing about taking care of an infant or a kiddo. Most dads I’ve seen in action have been super hands-on, more than capable of changing diapers, juggling the needs of demanding little customers and even singing theme songs to TV shows about princesses. Dads don’t always get the recognition that moms do, but I will say that I can’t fathom how I’d do this parenting thing without my husband. The kids jump to greet him when he gets home from work, he gets them to listen when I can’t, he’ll stop them from getting into the toilet water or dog dish when I just cannot chase them anymore. He gives me breaks when I desperately need them, entertains by juggling and doing spot-on impressions of various cartoon characters — and basically steps to the plate being everything they need from a dad. I’m super lucky — and I hope they one day realize how lucky they are to have him as a dad.

With all that in mind, plus a crazy amount of pregnancy feelings, I totally teared up watching this video. Heck, I can’t blame pregnancy; my husband teared up when I shared it with him, too. Share it with the great dads in your life!

Need any tissues? How will you be celebrating Father’s Day this weekend? —Erin
