How Craveable Is PB Crave?

Peanut butter is awesome. I know it. You know it. And we’re always on the lookout for new ways to enjoy our PB. Ways like … combining peanuts with other amazing flavors … like banana, and chocolate and cookies. Yes, cookies.
Hence this PB Crave review! Made with no hydrogenated oils or artificial flavors, including high-fructose corn syrup, and gluten-free and cholesterol-free, they got our attention. One two-tablespoon serving has 180 calories and about 14 grams of fat, 2 grams of fiber, 5 grams of sugar and 6 grams of sugar, depending on the flavor. The ingredient lists on these are fairly clean (peanuts, sugar, palm oil), but they do have things like maltodextrin and soy lecithin in them, too. That said, they’re flavored with real stuff like honey and vanilla — plus natural flavors.
But how do they taste?! Here’s the run down on each of the four flavors …

Razzle Dazzle

Said to be “a twisted blend of natural peanut butter, red raspberry, wild honey, cool white chocolate and rich dreamy darkness,” this flavor really gives you a lot of raspberry. I didn’t get a ton of the chocolate in it, as the raspberry was so strong, but if you’re a raspberry fan, this might be your new favorite thing. I can imagine this being really good in oatmeal with a few fresh raspberries or even over vanilla ice cream. It’s sweet but not too sweet.

Cookie Nookie

Cookie Nookie is described by PB Crave as “a mouthwatering mix of chocolate chips, cookie dough flavor, wild honey and premium peanut butter.” And although I’ve never had the Trader Joe’s Cookie Butter, I kind of imagine that this is a healthier version of that. Still very peanut-buttery, Cookie Nookie (fun name, right?) is rich and gooey, with just a few hints of chocolate and lots of vanilla. It doesn’t taste just like cookie dough batter but more like peanut butter with a hint of cookie dough batter. Like the Razzle Dazzle, it’s also not overly sweet. It’s nice. And totally awesome on toast or straight out of the jar with a spoon.

CoCo Bananas

Peanut butter and bananas may be one of my fave pairings ever, so I was naturally pretty psyched to try this “tropical blend of yummy bananas, cocoa and wild honey that adds a taste of island paradise to any PB&J.” And the flavor delivers. While I didn’t pick up much chocolate, there was plenty of ripe banana flavor with the salty peanut butter that was delicious. Also, it was really good on a banana. I thought that might be overkill, but turns out I really, really like banana flavor with my PB! This is also great smeared on dark chocolate …

Choco Choco

Since the other PB Crave flavors didn’t give a lot of chocolate flavor I was hoping this one — with its “double dose of semi-sweet and rich dark chocolate with premium peanut butter and wild honey” — would. And it did! I mean, it’s not like Nutella or anything, but it’s just the right mix of peanut-butter goodness with creamy chocolate mixed in. It’s fabulous in a smoothie and, as you might expect for me to say, on bananas.
What do you look for in a peanut butter? Nutritionals first … or taste first? I try to go with nutritionals, but it’s gotta taste good! Jenn
