Staying Honestly Stink-Free

honest-585
If we got offended by product pitches around here, we’d have to stock up on the tissues. But since we’re very open about our lack of showering in these parts, it came as no surprise when The Honest Company contacted me to see if I wanted to try its 100th product: Honest Deodorant. I’ve heard a lot about the company over the years because of its stance on providing safe, eco-friendly products for babies and moms, but I hadn’t actually tried any of the products yet. So when the spray deodorant landed on my doorstep, I tried it immediately. Because you know, showering hadn’t yet happened that day.

The only warning this product needs is: “This spray may be colder than it looks.”

Trying it immediately wasn’t the best idea. You see, it was a day in January. A really, really cold day in January. And the package had been sitting outside for about an hour before I grabbed it. So when I sprayed it under my shirt, well, I’ll just say it was crisp, refreshing and really woke me up! But once it warmed up to room temperature, I gave it an honest test. (See what I did there?)

First of all, the product is aluminum-free and made to naturally neutralize and refresh for long-lasting odor protection. The tea tree oil naturally fights stinky bacteria, while the aloe soothes and conditions skin. The witch hazel in it is also a natural anti-microbial, and the eucalyptus oil, bergamot, camomile and sage leaf oil all combine their strengths to soothe and smell delightful.

But does it work? I’m happy to report that yes, it totally prevents the underarm funk. It’s not sticky, and it dries quickly. Plus, I loved how you don’t  have to worry about any white residue getting on your clothes (although that is the least of my problems lately because of tiny-baby spit-up all day, every day). However, I must say that because it’s a deodorant, it’s not going to do any crime fighting as far as preventing sweat goes; it’s not an anti-perspirant. And at $8.95 it’s pricier than my normal deodorant, but I will say that a 4-ounce bottle of the stuff is probably going to last you a long time considering it only takes a couple of squirts to get the job done.

Interested in trying it? We’re giving away two bottles of the stuff! Comment below telling us the last time you showered and consider yourself entered to win. We won’t judge you if you say Monday. Winners will be picked in about a week; U.S. residents only, please! —Erin
