Retro Fitness: 3 Fun Ways to Throwback With Your Workout Wardrobe

retro-fitness

Yes, Throwback Thursday is a thing, but why not celebrate every day and every time you work out with a little retro fitness wear? Here are three items we’re loving that totally embrace that whole retro-fitness vibe! (It’s totally hip to be square … )

1. Watches

Guys, there are so many fun retro-fitness type watches out right now. Two of our faves? Reebok’s new the Pump watch ($130) that not only looks like it stepped out of the 80s but also features THE PUMP button. Yes, as in a button a la the Pump sneakers, on a watch. The Pump displays year, month, date, hour, minute and second. Plus, in time mode you can press Pump to change the font size, allowing you to “pump up” the display. Oh, yeah. reebok-pump-watch

Another watch we dig? These Digital Slap Watches from Winky ($40 — also, how fun is a company named “Winky”?). If you miss the slap bracelets of the 80s, these brightly colored slap watches will fulfill your retro fitness needs in spades. Made of silicone and way more comfy than the slap bracelets you sported back in the day, these are also water resistant, making them great for getting sweaty or running in the rain.

2. Shoes

Puma and Nike have tons of retro shoes we love, but the Brooks Heritage Collection ($84.99 to $99.99) has really stolen our retro fitness hearts. Both the Vanguard and Chariot are beyond comfy and beyond cute. Based on the looks of Brooks’ top sellers of yesteryear, we cannot stop wearing these — or buying them as gifts for loved ones.

3. Leg Warmers

Yes, they’re back and, yes, they’re totally cozy and way sporty. A lot of the major athletic brands sell chunky knitted pairs these days, and you can wear them everywhere from barre class to a casual coffee date. And if you have no idea how to wear leg warmers without looking like you Marty McFlyed your way here, watch this video. Kristen shows us how its done.

Do you like to go retro with your fitness look? Lately I’ve also been into jackets! There are so many retro track jackets out there — Nike, adidas, Puma — just waiting to be found and worn!Jenn
