Frozen Drinks: Achievement Unlocked

Yo, could I get a cold beverage? Because it is hot out.
Getting plenty of water (sparky or otherwise) to stay hydrated is priority numero uno, of course, but if you’re also looking to up your frozen cocktail game, you’ve come to the right popsicle stand.
I mean, we all know the basics of how to make a margarita or daiquiri (or is that not required learning for those of you who didn’t attend a top party school?), but what if you’re wanting something equally refreshing but maybe not so heavy? Hard alcohol + hot summer sun can be a recipe for one heck of a nap, in my experience, but prosecco? That’s a little easier to sip for a longer period of time without getting full (or tipsy).

Santa Margherita shared a recipe for a spiked strawberry slushie that puts other frozen drinks to shame — you’ll find the full recipe below. But that’s not all! They also suggested tasty and whimsical winesicles (Santa Margherita Prosecco Superiore with a few edible flowers thrown into a popsicle mold — so cute) and festive fruit cubes (Prosecco Superiore and assorted sliced fruit in an ice cube tray).

Light and refreshing ... but with a little kick!
Ingredients
  • 1 bottle Santa Margherita Prosecco Superiore
  • 3 cups strawberries
  • ¼ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 sprig fresh mint
  • Ice cubes (lots)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
Instructions
  1. Stir lemon juice and ½ Santa Margherita Prosecco Superiore together, set aside.
  2. Combine ice cubes, mint, sugar and strawberries in blender, blend on high until smooth.
  3. Pour in lemon and Santa Margherita Prosecco Superiore mixture and blend on medium until smooth.
  4. Distribute mixture and top each glass with remaining Prosecco.
  5. Garnish with strawberry.

What are your favorite frozen drinks? If I’m at a resort, I do love me a pina colada … especially if they can mix some freshly muddled strawberries into it. But I really just want one — more than that starts feeling like dinner. Kristen
