Celebrate the Season with Christkindl Glühwein (aka German Spiced Wine)

‘Tis the season for mistletoe, jolly old elves and, if you happen to live in Germany, Christkindl Glühwein. So let’s celebrate!
Christkindl Glühwein is a full-bodied red wine enhanced with the flavors of cinnamon, cloves and citrus. Think sangria, but with bolder, spicier flavors and no ice cubes. The Deutschland tradition is served warm and pairs magnificently with gingerbread or any of those irresistible holiday cookies.
Lower in alcohol, (9 percent compared to 13 percent or higher of other reds) you can cozy up around the fire, celebrate the season and still work off all of those treats in the morning!
The preferred drinking temperature of this sweet, spiced wine is between 136 to 140 degrees. Wrap your fingers around a warm cup of Christkindl Glühwein and let the holiday spirit take over.
It’s not hard to find this seasonal favorite — Aldi’s reportedly offers a good but inexpensive glühwein. But you can also make your own with the following recipe.
