Do You Love the Body Your Mother Gave You?
With it being Mother’s Day weekend—and because we already have you guys getting naked—we thought we’d ask you all how you feel about your bodies. And not just another “Do you like your thighs?” type of question. Oh, no, we want you to think about your body in the context of your mother’s body. What did she give you? Did you inherit her calves? Did she pass on her strong shoulders? Sometimes when we remember that who we are and what we look like isn’t just about us, but is actually a representation of our heritage, it can make loving that body a little easier—or at least make you a little more forgiving.
I, for example, have my mom’s knees (which I’ve always liked) and face shape. I also have her nose—and I get my recessive blue eyes and red hair from both of my parents. And I’m happy to say that I love what I got, even if we both tend to carry extra weight in our tummies. Now tell us…
Can’t see the poll? Tell us about your relationship to the body your mother gave you here.
And, please, tell us in the comments what parts of your body you love that your mother passed down to you! —Jenn
