Fit Bottomed Girls, They’ll Be Riding Today
Not even 500 feet from my house is Roe Park, a beautifully maintained piece of land with ball diamonds, a swimming pool and miles and miles of intersecting bike trails. So why is my bike parked in the back bedroom? Good question, but first breakfast.
Before I blow off the dust and air up the tires, a good breakfast is in order. Some carbs to fuel my ride with a bit of protein to keep the stomach grumbles at bay. My go-to “stick with you” concoction is cocoa/peanut butter oatmeal. Fabulous!
My plan is an easy 10 miles for the first ride of the season. I’m not trying to qualify for the Tour de France, I just want to enjoy the weather and get my heart rate up.
About an hour later, I wheel into the driveway, pop into the shower and go in search of lunch. The fridge reveals leftover grilled turkey tenderloin and enough baby greens to throw together a little salad.
‘Tis the season for planting; so it’s off to the nursery. My botanical knowledge is limited, so it’s usually a crapshoot. I read the tags and end up with a sun-loving assortment and a few tomatoes.
Later that day, I share a plate of leftover hors d’oeuvres with Bill. Usually my snack is not this exciting, but we had friends over the night before for cocktails. Veggie-stuffed ‘shrooms and mini ham asparagus quiche! What a treat.
We are just hangin’ at the house tonight, so dinner is a simple maple-glazed pork chop and sautéed Brussels sprouts. A bottle of red tops off the meal.
Later, we watch a movie and munch on popcorn made with coconut oil and Himalayan Sea salt.
A pretty laid back day. Today I played, for tomorrow I work in the yard—argh!
