Doctor’s Orders

Ever since Dr. Oz started landing on Oprah with regularity, he’s become the nation’s trusted doctor. Good thing Oprah knows how to pick them. Now with his own show, he lands in millions of households each day , giving advice on how to live well and be healthy.

Check in with this Men’s Health article to get the latest and greatest advice from the good doc himself. My favorites? He recommends that men keep the circumference of their bellies at less than half of their height. And he tells the boys to have as much sex as possible for the stress relief and exercise benefits. And I quote: “The next time your loved one says she has a headache, tell her she’s literally killing you.” Now if that’s not a guilt trip, I don’t know what is!

I know y’all keep it fairly light in tone on this site, which I love and appreciate, but seriously, Dr. Oz’s quote isn’t funny. Coercing or pressuring someone to have sex when they don’t want to isn’t okay. Too many women live with partners that think it is and, trust me, that’s certainly not good for anybody’s health.

I’m sure I seem like a stick-in-the-mud here, but I just had to say it.

Blech. I also am uber creeped out by the Dr. Oz quote. Because guilt-tripping someone into sex they don’t work is SUPER healthy.

(Sidenote, I just canceled my DVR recording all of Dr. Oz’s new episodes….I was excited when the show launched, but I’m totally sick of it, and him. Very much not a fan anymore.)

Dr. Oz speaks quite frequently about the health benefits of having more frequent sex. Joking around with your spouse or partner is NOT the same as forcing someone to have sex, and I highly doubt he would ever condone that kind of behavior (nor would FBG!). I think his point was simply about the health benefits of sex. Sincere FBG apologies to anyone who is offended.

Oh my frickin GAWSH! Some of your readers seriously should consider taking a chill pill! Or better yet, try getting some! Sounds like someone needs a good romp in the bedroom to lighten the load.

As an FBG reader I would just like to say we’re not all sensitive susies.
