Anna’s Story

I knew in mid 2006 that I had to make a change. I was not the mother I wanted to be or the mother that my children deserved. I had reached 210 pounds and suffered from a host of weight-related issues that left me feeling more out of control than ever before. So I started to inform myself. I started reading and looking for answers to the universal question: “How do I get healthy and fit and stay there?”

After reading more books than I care to mention, this is what I came up with: The best way for me to reach my goal was to eat a balanced diet of clean, natural and minimally processed foods. In January 2007, I began making changes to my diet gradually so that they would stick. I also slowly introduced exercise into my daily routine. I eventually rediscovered my long-lost love of fitness.

I did not put on the extra pounds over night, and I knew they would not come off over night either, so I set small goals for myself to keep my motivation up. I stopped making excuses and started holding myself accountable for my good and bad decisions and choices. Over the course of a year, I lost 75 pounds and have kept it off. A side effect of getting healthy and strong? My husband, who was not supportive at first, has since joined me and has lost 40 pounds and never felt better himself. Now he is now one of my biggest sources of support and motivation.

I am just like most women who want to be the best they can for themselves and their families. But there is no easy way around it—getting healthy takes work, commitment and effort, but it’s all worth it. I am stronger, faster and healthier today at 35 years old than I have ever been. I want and need people to know that it is possible, they can do it if they work at it and believe in themselves. —Anna Pecoraro

Now that’s living the Fit Bottomed Girls’ principles! It’s amazing what happens when you eat right, start moving that body and believe deep down that you’re worth it. Awesome job, Anna! —Jenn
