So Fresh, So Clean, So Sporty (and Functional!): Adidas 3 Hair & Body Wash

Okay, so Adidas 3 Hair & Body Wash is technically for dudes. But girls get sweaty and stinky, too! And we appreciate two-in-one products that keep our gym bags from being too overstuffed. Am I right, or am I right? So when Adidas asked if we wanted to try its new line of advanced formulas that were created with the help of athletes, we were more than game to suds up. Even if they are made for guys.

These Adidas hair and body washes come in three scents: Extra Fresh, After Sport and Active Start. To help pamper the inner athlete in you, each have mint extract, protein and pro-vitamin B5 added and are said to leave both your skin and your hair revitalized and rehydrated. A pretty tall order for a girl, no?

Well, I used each of these a number of times, and generally, I liked them. Extra Fresh was by far my favorite scent. The mintiest of all, it was the most gender-neutral and least strong-smelling variety of the three. After Sport was my second favorite, with another gender-neutral smell that was pretty refreshing and almost floral, in my opinion (don’t tell the boys). Pulling up the rear in the sniff department was Active Start. It smelled the most dudely of all and had the strongest smell of all.

Personal preference of smell aside, all of these do the hair-and-body-washing job well. Sure, they’re not as luxurious and moisturizing as your usual body wash and shampoo (and you will need conditioner if you are prone to dry or frizzy hair like I am), but they are refreshing—and they somehow feel more athletic. The mint in each of them invigorates as it cools you down, which sounds like an oxymoron but is actually true. While I wouldn’t want to use it every time I took a shower, for the days that you need to shower at the gym or get really, really sweaty it’s a great product to use. It’s also freakin’ fantastic to only have to bring one bottle in the shower with you (minus the conditioner, I guess) in the gym locker room. So, don’t let the “for men” name scare you. We ladies should totally take advantage of the convenience of these hair and body washes!

Now tell us: are there are dude products you use? I know razors are a common one. We’d love to hear about your manly—or not so manly—finds! Tell us in the comments below, and we’ll choose five lucky U.S. readers in about a week to win a set of these! —Jenn

Great review… may have to try this to cut down my gym load in the AM. I currently use Dove anti-perspirant for Men! I really enjoy the Clean Comfort scent as it is fairly gender neutral and works far better than any women’s anti-perspirant I have tried (including “clinical” brands). I highly recommend it!

I often use men’s deodorant when I workout. I find that for a sweat hog like me, the men’s products are more effective.

I am not embarrassed to admit that I use men’s deodorant! In addition to some body washes marketed for men. Sometimes, especially after a hard workout, I am in the mood for a real fresh type of scent. Also I have found a great one that has menthol and gives a cooling effect!

I’m down for the body wash, but I do find my hair requires a separate conditioner if I plan to do anything where people see me after the gym (like go to work!)

i use his shaving cream when i run out..then i have to resoap so i dont smell like a man

Many years ago, I bought a little sample of Drakkar Noir for men because I loved the scent so much (& my guy at the time didn’t). I still sample the guy’s cologne magazine samples. I’ve used guy’s body wash and soap since I dig the sporty scent. Just a few days ago, I received in the mail, a men’s sample of Clear (anti-dandruff shampoo) so looking forward to trying that (girls have dandruff too!)

My hubby’s razor is SOOO much better than mine!

  8. Noel says:

The products for men are usually the same product and cheaper.

  9. Stephanie says:

    Absolutely, Noel!

I really like the “clean” scents that are used in dudes’ products, so I am also one who will use a men’s deodorant. I am intrigued by this product, because I love all-in-ones. I’m currently using Lush shampoo bars in my gym bag, because they do the trick, but I’d give this one a shot. If I can get away with this in my hair with only using detangler, it will work on the one day a week I shower at the gym. Otherwise, I need a conditioner most days, too.

My husband finally convinced me to try Nupercanal (hemmeroid cream) on mosquito bites. Of course it works great but I’m not sure my friends believe me when I tell them that’s why I keep it in my camelback!

  11. Meg says:

I shamelessly use men’s deodorant when I workout and on hot summer days – it smells ridiculously good (better than most womens deo.)

  12. SarahGo says:

I have on occasion used my husband’s deodorant or body wash. And I actually love that I smell like him all day.

  13. lindsay says:

I use Irish Spring bar soap. Isn’t that marketed as a man-soap?

  14. Terra says:

Except for a razor or shaving gel I’ve never tried men’s products. But after reading the comments I might be switching deodorants at least. I sweat like a man so it only makes sense that I should use the same deodorant. The 2-in-1 hair & body wash sounds like a great product as well.

  15. Rachel W says:

I use my husband’s shave cream, men’s razors and his body wash when mine is gone. I may smell like a man for the day, but it makes me think of him when I get a wiff of it 🙂

  16. Erin says:

Men’s razors are so much better! I also love the smell of some cologne.

  17. Mary DeBernardo says:

I like the “Just for Men” hair color products when I just want to comb in and cover up the gray roots coming in, without having to do a whole hair coloring procedure!
