Big Balls Ahead

It’s not too often that our whole family can get together. With my sister and brother in California, my parents in Hawaii and my own journey starting in Colorado, it’s hard to get us all in one place, so for the holidays when we’re all in Hawaii we always put together a family bowling tournament that, of course, starts with a meal.
Down in Kailua Town is one of our favorite local brunch places. With their famous Lilikoi Pancakes taunting me from a nearby customer, I looked for the healthier option of the Egg White Vegetable Frittata.

The tasty choice.

Okay…I confess. I did take two bites of the Lilikoi Pancakes that were on the table. It was quite divine!
After making some better (and some delicious) choices at breakfast, we all piled into the car and headed to the home of big balls and ten pins—bowling! (And hooray for ball jokes!)

My fit dude taking a fit shot—STRIKE!

My mom took first place with 141, and I crept up behind her at 125. Note for bowling enthusiasts: Not such great scores, but more importantly we tried hard and had a great time!
I have to admit all that hard work swinging that ten-pound bowling ball can make you quite hungry. But apparently I was the only one searching her purse looking for a bite, and luckily had a Quest Bar on hand. (My Christmas stocking was full of them! My boyfriend knows me too well.)

I love these bars. They are high in protein and fiber, and help quench hunger. Yum!
Now for the finale…. Dun dun dunnn. Pizza and watermelon. Okay, not the best combination for the booty, but best for the taste buds. Sometimes you have to enjoy a little pepperoni or spinach and garlic, especially when your family is around the table.
Watermelon!
