Greek Frozen Yogurt Recipe: Make Your Own Chillbox at Home

greek-yog-585So it may not exactly be summer yet (and least not here in the Midwest—it’s still cold!), but we are so, so ready for warmer weather and everything wonderful that comes with it. Like flip-flops, and sun dresses and FRO-YO. Oh, yes, so much fro-yo. But instead of always going out for it, which can get pricey quickly, wouldn’t it be awesomesauce if you could make it at home? And not just make regular fro-yo, but have a true Greek yogurt frozen yogurt recipe? Oh, yes. Happy tastebuds and bellies all around!

We recently got the below Greek frozen yogurt recipe from Chillbox, the first Greek frozen yogurt store to open in the UK. Since we’re not in the UK (although we’d love to go, Chillbox—hint, hint), it decided to share its magical concoction for Greek fro-yo goodness that you can make it home. It’s super easy to make with an ice cream maker, has just 124 calories per 100-gram portion (that’s about a 1/2 cup for those of you without a handy kitchen scale) and is low in fat and high in protein and probiotics. Plus, it’s delicious!

Chillbox Natural Greek Frozen Yogurt Recipe

Ingredients
900 grams low-fat Greek yogurt (3.8 cups)
110 grams fructose sugar (little bit less than 1/2 cup)
125 millileters semi-skimmed milk (1/2 cup)
Fresh fruit of your choice
Directions
1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together all ingredients. Cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour and up to 4 hours.
2. Pour mixture into your ice cream machine and process for 10 to 12 minutes until set to the consistency of soft-serve ice cream.
3. Serve immediately, or transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze until ready to use. Allow the yogurt to warm up slightly before serving. Serve with cut pieces of your favorite fruit.
Are you willing summer weather to come, too? Have you ever tried a Greek frozen yogurt recipe like this one before? What do you like to top your Greek fro-yo with? —Jenn
