Sipping Tea With Prince

Lately, I’ve been having tea with Prince.
No, not Prince William.
Or Harry.
Or even this Prince.
I’m talking about this Prince. Prince Teas!

The company recently sent us some of its turmeric-infused sencha green tea — yes, we said turmeric-infused sencha green tea — and, peoples, it’s about as close to royalty (or “the artist known as”) status as possible when it comes to tea. All-natural, organic and just plain pretty, it’s a mix of traditional Japanese steamed green tea with turmeric (you know, the yellow awesome stuff in curry).

Siblings and owners of the company, Tina and Princ Bhojwani, loved turmeric tea themselves but found making it time-consuming and messy. So they decided to put it in a tea bag! Turmeric is full of antioxidants, is an anti-inflammatory and has been said to do everything from boost immunity to improve digestion to fight cancer. I love how you can really see both the green tea leaves and the yellow turmeric in the bag. It’s really pretty and seems so fresh.

Lately, I’ve been enjoying a cup in the afternoon as a great way to help digest lunch and as a pick-me-up. Unlike some other alternative teas we’ve tried, Prince Teas has a very subtle flavor. It’s not sweet. It’s not overpowering. In fact, I’d call it light and gentle, with just a hint of turmeric (barely there) and a really nice mild green tea taste.

And even if you brew the tea bag for a few minutes, it’s still not overpowering. But it does turn a really pretty yellow color from the turmeric.

Prince Teas comes with a higher price tag than most of your teas ($20 for that tin), but if you’re a tea connoisseur, it’s definitely worth trying. Simply a gorgeous and healthy drink that combines the amazing benefits of both green tea and turmeric. Plus, it makes you feel like royalty! Or, you know, sing “Purple Rain.”
Have you ever had turmeric tea? Would you try it? —Jenn
