Cake Lingerie’s New Addition to Its Lineup: The Orange Zest Nursing Sports Bra

Confession: I don’t own a nursing sports bra. I know, it’s a little weird, considering I breastfed two kids for more than a year each, and I’m kind of into the whole fitness game. But my daughter would actually take a bottle when needed and once I had two kids, my workouts turned into more of the stroller-walk version and whatever I could fit in at home. So I’d throw on a super-supportive sports bra and call it good because I could always take it off when needed. But if there’s a third child, I may just have to suck it up and go for the real deal. Especially seeing as how I’m now a runner and all.

So I may have bookmarked this new introduction to the nursing bra market when it landed in my inbox recently. Cake Maternity, known more for having the sexiest nursing bras around (no, really, they’re cute!), expanded its line to add breastfeeding capability to a sports bra. The bra was in development for a year, and founder Tracey Montford says it was created to lift and shape, and encompass rather than compress for a secure, comfortable and supportive fit.

It looks supportive and super sporty, and it even sounds yummy with the name Orange Zest — and it features molded cups for seam-free shape, a flexible wire for support and wider, padded straps to decrease shoulder pressure. The smooth spacer technology reduces friction, and it’s got the easy one-hand clips that nursing moms need. It’s not a cheap option at almost $80, but anyone who has invested in a good bra, a good sports bra or a good nursing bra knows you often get what you pay for. And there’s also a super-cute brief that matches!

So while we haven’t tried this one out, it’s definitely one we’d try on for size! Do you go the nursing sports bra route or do you find it’s not worth the trouble of searching for one? —Erin

Nice review Erin. I’ve been looking for a good nursing sports bra. They’ve been literally impossible to find!!!

I did manage to find a great maternity bra for yoga when I was pregnant. You should do a review! It was made by a company called Amoralia in the UK.
